The kind of story that made me call my friend late at night to debrief bc I don't know how to feel about this.
If I am seeing this as a horror/psychological thriller take on omegaverse, it is great for such a short story and showing a true sociopath with no redeeming characteristics. I had a knot in my stomach (no puns intended) the whole time.
I really liked the small touches in the story to explain the concept like the beta fish being the colour of their pheromones and him having a lone beta fish that he admires and has all to himself at home much like his own beta guy. The art is overall nice, too. I could feel the tension through the dialogues bc I know but the MC doesn't know so I wanted to scream "RUN!!" every interaction.
If it were longer, personally, I'd have liked for the omega to discover everything and to take revenge on the alpha because I am tired of this type of power imbalance and having the ML succeed in the end leaves a bad aftertaste when the MC is truly a good person who had everything taken from him.
At the same time, I have a feeling this was intended to be read like true love story bc of the happy ending? And that's when it gets me questioning if the author is alright. Are we alright? Not sure if I am after reading this.
