It’s a short story that’s why pacing is off and things are moving fast, and (the mc or ml I really can’t tell between them on who is who)doesn’t really know the depth of him and his brothers relationship at all and he only met him once, I think he’s going on based on how he treats himself without having a care in the world I think that’s what he meant by that line you quoted.

buddy, you’ve know each other for what? A week? It’s obvious he’s been through some serious trauma related to his brother yet he excepts him to change just like that?
Idk the pacing is just off imo but I’ll keep reading since it’s still the beginning, don’t wanna get my hopes up to much tho.
