It was found to be the last painting before his death in a French village, identified during pandemic by a researcher by sheer coincidence. It portrays roots of trees in the village where he spent his last days. It’s said to be unfinished as he took the canvas from painting outside to his room as he usually would but did not get to finish the piece.
