Because authors literally make us trauma bond with these black flags. And the MCs end up with them in the end which really making us overlook all the fucked up stuff they did. Its like Well if the MC could love them again I guess SAing, torture, physical abuse, verbal abuse, and being an overall dick are all things that can and will be forgiven

I think I have been reading too many plots with black flags because im like this is minor leagues stuff. I still like the ML. Yeah the collar and chain is a bit much but he didn't break his ankles. Yeah its bad irl but this is yaoi so its not THAT bad (*thinks about the comment that I just typed and books session with therapist )
