My conclusion now that the season is over, and after binge-reading it again, is that this isn't a love triangle story because I genuinely don't think Haeseong is still in love with Jiwon, at least not in the way he was back in university. If anything, it feels more like a toxic attachment. It seems like he finds comfort in Jiwon's familiar presence and in the grip and influence he still has over him, all while feeling dissatisfied with his own life.
As for Jiwon, I dont think he's in love Haeseong either, but Haeseong clearly still has a hold on him. His marriage announcement irked him and his painful first love obviously left him traumatized because, what do you mean you're in the middle of having sex and somehow your mind flashes back to Haeseong being a cold little bitch back in 1967? Please heal and embrace the new love brother.
Also, I take back what I said about him looking happy in the season finale because the vibe was gloomy as hell. Clinging to Jiwon and your past wont fix you. Go to therapy!
