Monster mugo and jerk mugo made a deal behind old mugo back. They eat lunas in exchange of wishes so that they can exterminate the clan. The main family always sacrificed the other families because they saw them as disposable and literally bred them like cattle so that the main family could retain all the fortune from the wishes mugo makes concedes them. At the end of the day, even tho they did that so "lunas could live better", they only rigged the game so that the main family could be the perpetrator while the rest are getting r worded, beaten and killed just like before
Is THAT why the well god called them disgusting creatures??? That brings a whole new understanding to how things work and why mugo is seemingly going against the wishes of the family he serves. He was given 2 conflicting directives. What bothers me now tho is the fact the Lunas did this to protect Lunas and then they turned around and started sacrificing Lunas to mugo?? Why? Is it because of the first directive? The one to get revenge on those who did this to him? Because if it was for any other reason, that would defeat the point of them making mugo to begin with. I guess this also explains why mugo is indifferent to the little ppu creatures. They were also tortured with him so he feels a sense of kinship with them. It also explains why Jerk Mugo is so abrasive. He literally had to be suspicious lest he be hurt and tortured again. I always knew monster Mugo was a glutton because Mugo died from starvation. As soon as they mentioned he was created as a god, I did immediately make the connection to Gu poison and how they make it. There is a lot of lore that specifically talks about how consuming Gu poison will make you superhuman or can elevate you to the position of a God and it’s one of those super cruel East Asian (Chinese and Japanese mainly) torture methods. I just never would have guessed that they would beat him to near death to break his spirit and make him more susceptible to doing what they wanted. It makes sense but it’s so cruel and horrid that it didn’t really cross my mind. My soul breaks for those two. They really got dealt the worst hand for literally no reason.
