in the story is mentioned more than once that he has ASPD. it's no big surprise that empathy is an obsolete and nonsensical concept to his mind and that he will take impulsive, life-threatning actions because he doesn't have this fear of losing his life or eventually hurting people around him. his absent emotional comprehesion is a reflex of ASPD, so, in that matter, he will be very idiotic.
