It was good. My only complaints are: 1) I would have liked to see more emotional development between them, a bit more romance instead of either trauma healing or sexual attraction/action. like even just seeing one cute moment where they bonded over something like a shared intrest instead of just a fight based on misunderstandings, a dramatic emotional makeup, rinse and repeat. 2) She forgave her mom and sisters way too easily. The lengths her mom went to, I know the "reason" but for things as petty as "buying all the fabric so she can't have a dress made" has nothing to do with her "reason" (that reason still doesn't justify even the non petty things, or even the first thing of trying to force her into that abusive, toxic marriage) at the end the mom talked about how carefully she had selected all her child's husband's. So what the hell happened with your most precious? She never commented on it. Even if her mom ended up doing right in the end, she should still have to grovel a bit to make up for all the shit she did. I do understand her to some extent, but that doesn't make it right or okay. Even keeping her illness from her in the first place was wrong, even outside the marriage issue.
Aside from those two things tho, I enjoyed it alot. I loved the FL, she has so much personality and is a true terrifying badass (though she does lose it a bit towards the end) and the war hero, flawed human he may be, has, has such a clear personality as well. It's been a while since I've read something with such clear, well defined character personalities, even for the side characters. The ending was a bit rushed, but it wasn't too bad, as at least this story didn't overstay it's welcome. All in all, an enjoyable read. 4/5
