Yeah it kind of confusing how it was worded but I think it was supposed to be the opposite. It seems like he's acting like a playboy even though he's saying the truth. I think it's more his actions than his words are supposed to be the lie. But I get why you were confused, if you continue reading the series you'll see he's 100% not a playboy though.
