So i have a degree in korean language so I just went ahead and read the manhwa myself. The only reason I say this is because people ask where the translation is. Regardless, I really really liked the first half of it, but the second half left a lot to be desired-it’s not bad, but I was a bit disappointed.

I’m still trying so reconcile some of it. I really wish the author had given Som more of a personality, he is textbook definition of someone who’s entire life revolves around his man- I don’t understand WHY he has no friends. I feel like in a lot of other manhwas with somewhat similar characters (i.e: bad friend, 18s bed) there is a reason that the mc is more of a loner, and/or the mcs have DEPTH to them. Som is just a normal kid, and I don’t understand why he doesn’t have friends.. like I guess hes just not social?? but he seems to love hanging out with Geon so idk… his characterization is kind of all over the place. regardless, I think the author is trying to say that Som’s charm IS that he’s just an incredibly devoted boyfriend and he loves Geon so much that he world do anything and everything for him even at the cost of his morals, mindset, and pride. Idk how I feel about that though.

on that note let’s talk about the church hyung….. honestly, that arc was so funny to me bc Som dgaf about him AT ALL… like church hyung is trying to play 4D chess and Som has never even seen a chess board before…

but at the same time, when he fell out with the hyung is when I started to understand Som’s personality more. like literally there is NOTHING going on in his head except Geon, and I guess idk how to feel about that??? I thought he was smarter because of the way he was portrayed in the beginning, but he’s really as dense as Geon…

Secondly, I wish the author had dragged out the angst after the time skip, they made up kind of abruptly to me? I would have liked to stew the angst of abandonment and the longing they had for each other. Also we don’t get to see much of what happened during the 5 years they were apart, or about the book Geon wrote, etc… all of that information would have made it much more interesting and believable, 5 years is a long time to just hold on to feelings for someone.

Also let’s talk about Geon…. in the second half, he loses everything about him that made him a lovable character in the first half. He’s incredibly selfish, constantly takes advantage of Som’s obsession with him, is childish, and honestly I just don’t really understand the connection between them-esp on Geon’s end, it feels more shallow than anything else to me. Som loves him so unconditionally and would do everything for him, and so since Geon didn’t get that from his parents, he really feeds on Som… he’s also pretty much completely abandoned his writing career, which was a really charming gap-moe part of him that made him super adorable and likable. Now, they just keep having sex-which is fine, asI would like to see it paired with more fluff and getting to know one another better. The story just really lacks emotional depth imo.

Communication is getting better in the most recent chapter though I guess, and it actually made me cry, so it’s on an upward trend at the least. But I really think it’s because the author is addressing more of what happened during their 5 year break, which goes back to my second point about how I needed more time to process and feel the emotions of that, and the author is JUST NOW, over 30ch later (the raw are at 60ch), starting to explore those emotions. Anyways, right now this is at 3.5-4* where’s the first half was def a 5* to me, so we’ll see….
