Why did he not just give permission?? Is it just because he decided that the kid was too far gone/already dead?? If so, why tf did he do that???? Instead of signing off on it and leaving it to medical professionals??????? Who would obviously be way more qualified to handle that???? Also, in what world would he be the only person qualified to sign off on that kind of thing????????? In this emergency situation, they have to call back someone who had already left the airport in order to fill out some paperwork???????????? Earlier on in the story, we see that he has to get a colleague to agree to a shift change for him, so he’s clearly not completely in charge!! BESIDES, HE DOESN’T WORK FOR BORDER CONTROL HE JUST WORKS FOR THE AIRLINE!!! FUCK!!
And I’m confused on what the permission is for?? The girl already automatically has that temporary permission apparently, and is going to the hospital, the permission was just about whether her parents could go to the hospital with her, which THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO because the girl is 8!!!! Obviously she needs a guardian with her!!!
ALSO, she was in cardiac arrest for 1.5 hours?? And the plane couldn’t make an emergency landing at an airport any sooner? Hell, if a pilot declares an emergency, they can even land at MILITARY AIR FORCE BASES OF OTHER COUNTRIES. It’s a matter of international law.
ALSO ALSO breaking ribs during CPR isn’t “extreme measures” it is an expected outcome of doing it correctly. You need to squeeze the heart to pump blood, and the heart is inside the rib cage, so OF COURSE the ribs break!!! They are IN THE FUCKING WAY!!!
At first I was being patient and kept reading because I knew the author wasn’t going to make this MC 100% evil, so I felt that there would be a rational reason/explanation for his actions…but we never got one! It was just used for a hurt/comfort moment, and then there was porn!!
Is his reasoning just that the girl is already dead?? No shit! You perform CPR when someone has stopped breathing and their heart has stopped beating. They are ALREADY DEAD. You are trying to squeeze the heart to keep blood circulating, and pushing air into their lungs to try to keep oxygen flowing to their brain to buy time for medical professionals to attempt to restart their heart.
