Aww baby sometimes we admire and love bad people too... we outgrow that, not always, but even those people are a lesson. The ML while being a jerk, in his own way he's asking real questions and making the MC think. ML can afford to do that because he's privileged. It's too early for any character development and the MC's trying his best but for now he will be weak and spineless... what else he can do in that situation...
