Omg real because like I feel like the topic of civil war and slavery is hard enough to hear about historically, and then it’s hard to make like an informational document/movie about it while trying to keep it not racist, and then this author chooses to write a freaking manhwa on it. Like she’s not stupid enough that slavery is wrong and she chooses to include a master-slave dynamic. Like who in their right mind would even choose that

I saw some character art in her page but didn’t think the manhwa was literally gonna be racist bl like idk how some of y’all are defending ts
Little storytime abt this,
I have a friend, let’s call her “R”, who first told me abt this manhwa. I hadn’t been following Jax’s social media (or any socials recently) closely so I hadn’t gotten to read this yet. I saw some character art from a few months ago and I was excited because it looked good! For context, I’m a Christian and I attend church. I have friends there, and “R” comes up to me after the service to make small talk. I’m in a hurry to get somewhere after so I’m trying to leave while listening to her, and she tells me abt this manhwa. I wasn’t rlly listening to her at that point but something she said caught my attention. She was like “oh, did u see Jax’s new manhwa? It’s good, love the artstyle, but it’s bit problematic in that she based it shortly after the US civil war, and she made one of the characters black and the other white, and gave them a master-slave dynamic.” I was kinda listening, but not fully at that point, until she said something else. She was like “thankfully tho, she issued an apology so like yass queen thanks for being not racist! She did say she would discontinue it, but I’m hoping it comes back, js with a different trope. Like I get ppls anger but she’s Korean so she doesn’t rlly know much about the US right? How would she know?” So then I walk to my car and then I’m like wait. Did she js say she wanted a racist manhwa back?… and also then had the thought, why was she defending her only bc Jax is Korean? Jax is also a grown adult who has access to the internet and can research about what happened in the civil war, so they’re educated enough to not make racist content. They could’ve also chosen a different theme or reflected better on the language and themes she was using for this project. I’m glad they’re cancelling it, because this is just not acceptable. Anyone who defends this, shame on you and fuck you, go suck ur own dick is the most respectful thing I can say.
