There IS a communication barrier between puppers and chiyoung in ch59 tho. Ycy is just yapping away in his original form even tho he knows the pup won't understand him. But like how some words are similar bc they're both some kind of canine, hyeseong caught the drift for only one part which was when ycy was saying he "liked" him/something. Everything else is guesswork on puppy's part. It was more obvious in the novel iirc.
If you reread ch59 you can see that the "conversations" they were having actually reads more like a monologue from puppy's side and yoon chiyoung just answering him like he could understand him even though he knows the pup can't.
Feels like the new writer needs to go back and read the source material, as I recall it was always implied at minimum that they can't talk in their animal forms, with moments that seem if it were an option they would have
Also the characters seem a bit ooc, and almost flat, which wasn't an issue during sex scenes but getting into more plot less porn it's a fair bit more obvious
