Mokyeon's backstory makes me understand more about his character, but damn there's a lot to unpack. I feel like because he's never grown up in a stable household(his biological mom dealing with depression, switching foster homes), he was never able to experience love and affection as a child. Looking back at it, this explains Mokyeon's fleeting relationships and how he used to have short-term interests with people. Him having barely any guidance from his second foster parents is probably the reason why he's reckless and relied on his looks to attract people. Because Mokyeon experienced love for the first time with Nanjo he didn't want to lose that love because he lived in a world were stuff like that was temporary, which is why he acted out of line by blackmailing him to keep him close. Although it doesn't justify his actions, it explains why he acted in that way, bro just doesn't know how to love because he never got to experience it
