This started out so-so and got better. What I like about it is how real the MC's problems are, especially for a poor college student his age. It's understandable that he'd fall for whoever is kind to him, like the ML and his brother.

It's pretty relatable when the MC said that if his parents were strangers and they met at school, they wouldn't be friends. I actually thought the same about my family.

The way he has to study so hard to retain his scholarship (since he isn't as quick or as smart as the other students) is so real. He reminds me of a classmate who was very grade-conscious and really couldn't afford to let his grades drop because that would mean stopping school and his life will fall apart. I respect people like that. They know what they want, and they work hard for it. I wish I could be like that.

It's pretty realistic how he eventually broke down because he was overwhelmed with school and work. As much as he loves the ML, the ML taking forever to eat lunch was genuinely messing up his schedule and that is something I can relate too. Not with a partner, but with friends. It's also really hard to eat out or attend events when you are poor and have to budget your allowance.

The MC's characterization is pretty solid to me, but I must say he isn't very charming. I don't know why. If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

The weak point for me is the ML. I had a hard time believing he fell for the MC. I know the author explained it, but I think the issue is the ML's characterization. He's handsome, intelligent, and everyone has a crush on him. Someone like the MC wouldn't attract his attention irl if we're being honest. He comes across as pretty straight, so I think the story needed a small arc showing how he developed feelings for another guy and what was going through his mind. It feels like the author just glossed over that part.

Overall, it's a good story, but it feels like it's missing something, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is.
