This is exactly why I love Phantom Busters so much, and why I’m willing to buy the physical copies. Every single character introduced has their own tragic, complicated, and meaningful backstory. Although the story is often hidden behind comedy tags and silly, goofy moments, the characters are far from shallow. Aside from the rest, my boys have so much depth. While they’re searching for more fun and unforgettable experiences during their youth, they’re also helping solve ghost cases and aiding people who are being haunted by them, like the way the story balances comedy, friendship, mystery, and emotional moments is genuinely, always so interesting (Kitaro is my favorite ghost btw!!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH I WANNA SEE HIM MORE) So I honestly disagree with people who say, “the only good thing about it is the art style,” because it’s pretty clear they never actually read it or gave the story a chance. The beautiful art is just one part of it, there’s so much more depth hidden behind all the chaos, comedy, and goofy moments. You really have to read it to understand how good this story actually is.
