I don't know if I have the best explanation of it, but in a nutshell it's like a love triangle, Two guys in a gang, and a regular civilian. The MC ends up with the dude from the gang (but he left it for him later on), which people hate. Me personally, I liked the option of him dating the dude that wasn't in the gang but then I just wished he didn't get with either of them and just lived for himself

Wet sand is not a love triangle. Wetsand is about TJ and Ian, 2 orphan kids that got the short end of the stick in life. They end up falling deeper and deeper into the underworld for survival. Ian was openly gay in a homophobic gang. While TJ had to hide his bisexuality. They were in love with one another but couldn’t be out in the open because of their environment. Ian couldn’t handle the violence of the underworld and wanted out of the gang, whereas TJ thrived and grew to love the money and power his position afforded him. Both grew up without the guidance of a proper adult, so they never knew how to properly communicate or show love to one another. This cause both to misunderstand each other. Ian just wanted to live a normal life outside the gang with TJ, but Ian thought TJ didn’t love him enough to give up everything for him. TJ thought Ian only stayed with him out of guilt. Throughout their story Ian has attempted to leave several times, but ultimately couldn’t. He went to jail for murder and was able to leave the gang then. TJ and Ian continued to meet up for sex and had an “open relationship.” (They never officially dated, but had an understanding) When the higher ups in the gang started to take action to get rid of TJ, ian felt compelled to come back and fight alongside TJ, but TJ finally decided to let Ian go for his safety. He thought since Ian didn’t love him and things were getting complicated that he would grant Ian’s wish of leaving the gang life behind and letting him move far away. So TJ left thinking Ian would take this opportunity to leave but Ian didn’t. He stayed to look for TJ and got sucked back into the gang drama. This led them to have their separation arc where Ian tried to move on from TJ with Jo. Jo worked across the street from Ian’s apt. He fell in lust at first sight. They went on a few dates where Ian told Jo he only pursued him for a one night stand but Jo wouldn’t accept that. Even though Jo knew Ian was still in love with TJ, he still pursued Ian disregarding the threats to his life and his family’s safety. Ian told him multiple times that being around him was dangerous, but Jo didn’t care. He agreed to be Ian’s fuck buddy as long as Ian only slept with him. He took the opportunity when TJ wasn’t around to stick to Ian like glue. Even though he knew Ian wasn’t fully invested in their relationship, Jo practically moves himself in with Ian. Ian was sad and lonely because of TJ’s disappearance so he took solace in Jo’s company, but he never forgot about TJ. Jo showed Ian the normal everyday life Ian has always wanted with TJ. Ian got to live the life he’s always wished for, he had the opportunity to move far away and finally be free from the gang world, but he didn’t. He stayed to look for TJ, while living in a bubble with Jo. Until that bubble finally popped and reality kicks back in. And he is forced to finally go after what’s in his heart.

Everyone talking about wetsand and I won't lie, while reading this I was talking to myself like, "this reminds me of wetsand, but if Joe and Ian got together" it's pretty obvious that people are mentioning wetsand because this is similar to the plot, at least some of it.
