I did read it to see how it was going. The thing I liked was the stupid stuff the MC did was justified. He was scared he would die because of the yin yang aspect, so he stayed with the top. But when a second better option appeared, he actually really considered it. one of the reasons he didn't want to go with 2nd option at first was because he was such a good guy, and he didn't want to use him. He felt more comfortable using a bad person than a good person.
So yes, the story was a bit better than usual weak and pushover mc.
