Yup if u wanted the dark part yes he did like him from the beginning, but knew he was straight. That's why he is shocked every time ml do things straight ppl think twice about, and keep getting his hope up. The darkest part is he knew ml liked his friend the girl in the beginning, and didn't stop a fellow gay guy from going after ml's crush. Making ml sad because he could not confess.
So it's not very dark at all (at least so far idk I don't trust it)
