i kinda took it for granted, like a quirky hobby he has to make him more human, but you made me think abt its possible meaning...

his shtty pottery skills is somehow similar to his fcked up sense of justice.
pottery is an art form that must be done in the proper order and steps to produce a beautiful output. like justice has a due process to ensure a fair judgment in deciding the appropriate punishment and/or compensation.
but for him, he is focused only on getting his beautiful output that he doesn't care about following the rules and order in pottery. like he doesn't follow the laws or policies of the justice system, since he wants to photograph the despair and misery on the criminal's faces. and that's what he finds beautiful.
