I've read this back then when I was very young, I've always thought wow! this is good! But now that I've found it and reread it.
First of all, the MC is a fucking bird, genuinely got me pissed midway rereading. he had tons of his own problems + even his mother dying yet all he thought was master this, master that. He kept coming back for that masterdihh. even before that and after that. he's genuinely down bad for the ML. but genuinely felt bad and like wow he's cool for running away AND fighting while being pregnant, cheers to him. mother perks ig.
Second, The ML genuinely dk what goes into his mind—he has this sickening tiny part of green flag only for his lover yet cruel to everyone and to his lover at the same time. Idk if I'd call him a yellow, red, or black flag because of the things he has done. Like I would fucking kill myself if someone impregnate me w/o consent and then try to abort the child w/o my consent as well. but the way he protects and turns the whole world upside down for his lover is ehh good ig, but that doesn't diminish his shitty red flags.
Ik this is an ancient historical time typa shit so the age gaps wouldn't be surprising, but if u genuinely hate disturbing age gaps. do NOT read this. since there's basically two—the main couple and the side couple(?—their child and this dude who's basically a "brother" but not really to the ML)
most of the time the sex scenes looked stiff as hell too.
I don't think there's anything to defend about this because they're really not defendable. it's just a mehhhh read. you get excited, pissed, mad, sad, wowed, oohed, and what the fucked. It's ehm good? decent? but it sides more on a "wtf".
the art style improvement is pretty though—it's a decent read, definitely not the worse you can find in yaois but not that amazing either.
