I feel like it's because people are too busy overthinking because of how occupied they are with their life, that feelings of affection can be a source of chaos and the only time they can release those "rational" suppression if when they drink and are under the influence. Because when you are drunk, the capacity to think rationally depends on their sense of control with both their body and minds.
