Gaon has a hero complex, this is established from the start almost as if it were something she inherited. When you have a hero complex, you seek out the runts, the oddballs, the ones with issues... because even if you know they're a lost cause, part of you still wants to be "the one" for them, the one who "fixes" them and always gives them a chance.
Gaon's intentions may be different, but that's not how the individual would see it. They'd see a sweet girl who's there for them, and they get attached because where else are they going to find what nobody else gives them? Who else really knows them or cares the way she does?
