It's also ridiculous to read the story with closed eyes. Yes, they have an age gap that shouldn't be romanticized irl (and I argue the story isn't doing that), but there isn't any power dynamic between them at all. From the beginning on, Minazuki is the more proactive one and emotional mature one, so much that even Aoi tends to forget he's older, or making him be ashamed that he should be better at handling (social) situations than Minazuki because of his age. Aoi is depressed, he didn't finish school, and he was most likely more of a shut in within the last years. He has little confidence in himself and doesn't even know how to ride a train. While they wouldn't (and shouldn't) have interacted if Aoi had kept his original body, he is neither grooming a 17-year-old guy, nor is he taking advantage or displaying any behavior that mirrors emotional or social maturity over Minazuki which *would* establish a questionable power dynamic.

There doesn't always need to be this stoic moral high ground, especially if a story is about mental health, forgiving yourself and healing each other, not lust....

my comment was more so directed towards the people shipping them and acting like it's cute and nothing's weird rather than the context/story. one is 17 (minor) and the other is 27, power dynamic or not, is odd and the grown man not being as emotionally mature as a child, let alone his peers doesn't change that for me and it's frustrating to see people gloss over it as long as it's in favor of bl relationships.

Sorry, this just further confirms you just want to be morally above other readers and haven't actually read the story. They don't end up together precisely because of their age gap, yet their relationship (and their feelings towards each other) saved them both. Aoi might've still been a reclusive, possibly even dead, while Minazuki still wouldn't have trusted people, would neither have believed in himself nor opened up if they hadn't met. All you have to say is "it's odd a grown man is not as emotionally mature"? When did Aoi have the chance to become like that??

Look, there are so many problematic BLs out there where shippers gloss over the toxicity that makes it feel like you're reading a completely different story than them... Here, the age gap is handled so well, yet all you're seeing is "omg he is a minor!!1!!" bc of all the TikTok witch-hunts. It's frustrating this moral superiority only happens in female dominated fandoms.

Also, looking at your original comment, you are fine with two young girls emotionally tormenting each other (who are in desperate need of therapy since they're only making each other worse). But you draw the line at an almost-adult healing another adult while they don't even get together. The adult is not using his maturity over the other one at all, but you still feel the need to put down shippers. Make it make sense.

yes i draw the line at an "almost adult" and an adult relationship. and again, my comment was not about the manga, i get that complicated circumstances can be enjoyable, but it was mainly directed towards some of the reviews i read at other websites which deceived me into thinking that this was a "slow burn bl" and a "blooming sweet romance" only to find out the huge age gap - which a lot of people do look past, especially in queer media, bls mainly which pisses me off. this is my last comment, i don't care about this manga enough to engage in this any more.
