It seems like the professor is feeling guilty or regretful !? Awwee, and Garam doesn't even mind. Garam's special ability to interpret the professor's music allowed him to figure out why the professor kissed him almost immediately (loneliness). I assume it was an impulsive response to feeling understood by somebody for the first time in a long time. And Garam doesn't even judge him for it because they're connected. EEK !!! I have a feeling the professor has always been an open book, but he gave up on waiting for someone that can read him correctly
