Beautiful written. The ending made me cry. Before I say anything, have in mind that if you are easily uncomfortable with themes of sa and abuse, this story is not at all for you. That being said, this entire story is truly interesting. The 'redemption' arc that the 'top' character goes through takes its time and that's the best approach for a character that has gone through a trauma that- although does not excuse his actions, has turned him into a very selfish person who does bad things.
But slowly, he changes the more he opens up his heart. It does not feel rushed, it feels natural. I do not know how I feel about this character. Part of me hates him, another part of me thinks that considering all the circumstances, the era, and the sacrifices he makes, he's redeemed a lot of himself, and change is good for everyone. And what told me he truly became better was when he would speak poetry and loving words to his lover- when he's been known as someone to mocks poetry. He wanted adult paintings, and yet the last one he ended up holding on to was the one where they embrace without doing anything sexual.
It's difficult to stay hating a character that's done plenty to try and be better. I do consider it funny that this man who has done worse than Jaekyung from Jinx- still had a better redeemption arc than Jaekyung (lol) That's what good writing does. (no shade to Jinx, it's a guilty pleasure)
Realistically however, although I ended up rooting and beging happy for their happy romantic ending, do keep in mind that if this ever were to be real life and you find yourself in a similar situation- know that you deserve better and no matter if people can be better or if you believe that they cannot, that isn't your joruney to go through, that's theirs. You do not have to stick around, you do not have to put your own happiness on the line for someone else's journey to redemption. Remember this is fiction.
