Penelope is such a baddie but remained realistically human that panics and feel fear despite her gains. Her words like knives are just one of her charms. She's smart and quick to clock it when it matters.
Callisto is one heck of well written ML that doesn't feel too cliche. You can really see his genuine affection. He set the standard for that peak lover/ML.
I liked Eckles and would've defend his obsession bcs he really was valid for developing his love that way because Penelope handled his affection badly and I like her for acknowledging that mistake but didn't cave and tolerate Eckles bad decisions. What a waste Eckles.
As for Derrick I hate the dude, Reynold was a cutie and Winter might be a weirdo and sus but he was really useful despite his blunders.
My favorite besides the couple is definitely the Duke Eckhart, he was trying his best as a father, learned and acknowledge his flaws as one. And his scene was the only one I cried over because that was just well executed.
Overall the story was ride I enjoyed so much, from angst, pettiness, regret, and characters. I love subtlety of pain, guilt and regret with every painful encounter the characters experience with Penelope. I do hope there's a sidestory to tackle the aftermath and more romance with Callisto and Penelope bcs their dynamic is so nice to read. This one is worthy of the hype and popularity it got.
