I think they glossed a lot of details from the novel, but if you want more understanding on what's happening in the manhwa just read the novel so you can associate things that makes no sense.

All in all it's a good thing for me bc I've been getting sidetracked when reading the novel (The in-depth details are too long to read w my attention span.)

In the novel most of the time it's Jio going step by step on how to cook something and exploring with the food's properties and their effects.

I don't think the manhwa mentioned how he wants to make potions for the time being and wanting to be an Alchemist for some reason

Haha yeah, they did and I clocked that at the beginning.

If you notice the novel is more slice of life and we get more details on Goi inside the painting, his daily life, how the blue bird and honey came to be, and his relationship with the white head boy

They also skips past the part where Goi gives him a potion (it might’ve been cookies or something us) where it prevents minor illnesses.

In my opinion they are making this more action adventure ish and not slice of life or cozy like the beginning of the novel is.

And that’s not a bad thing , it’s just some things in the manhwa doesn’t make since, and will only make since if you read the novel
