bruhhhh like okay, hyesungs dad was EXPLICITLY toxic and abusive, it makes it somewhat easier to cut off a relo like that. but theres barely any rep for toxic relos w parents where its GENUINELY hard to leave and cut ties with them because you also love them, but having them in your life is harmful to your mental health. thats who hyesungs mom is. between cutting ties with someone who once loved you (the mom) versus someone who never loved you at all (the dad): which would be harder and painful?

but hmm ig atp in time, hyesung and his mom had gone at least 15/16 years without seeing the other. at some point in life, life does grow around those childhood scars and life becomes bigger than them. thats probably why hyesung agreed to meet with her, despite those scars still being there. still there, but now smaller in comparison to everything else in his life.

still i think fargo shouldve shown that the mother at least had some humility. i find it deplorable that she allowed byul to have a connection with her despite knowing it would upset hyesung. with that single plotline, fargo made her seem shameless and lacking respect for her sons boundaries, and therefore in my eyes, irredeemable and unworthy of reconnection with hyesung.

maybe if fargo reintroduced the mom in such a way that she EARNED hyesungs presence in her life again, i would have empathy for her. but with the way fargo did so in reality, im tolerable of it only because in the end, it was hyesungs decision, and choosing to reconnect with someone takes courage too.
