Aside from the story itself, the whole 4-year no-contact thing was one of the most absurd writing choices. Korean authors throw around massive time skips like they're nothing 7 years, 8 years, 11 years, 4 years and then have the characters reunite and act like they only stopped talking a week ago.
People change a lot in just 2 years, let alone 4, 7, or 11. Their personalities, priorities, relationships, and outlook on life evolve. If a time skip has little to no impact on the characters or their dynamic, then what's even the point of making it that long? It just feels unrealistic and adds nothing to the story.
