An empress is not supposed to use her own family to go against the imperial crown. Also, most if not almost all kings took a second spouse or slept around. That’s their right. A lot of them did it to have more heirs and more options and a lot of them did it simply to have a son or to have one that looked more like them as vain as that sounds. It’s quite rare to find a king or emperor who didn’t sleep around. In fact, I’ll include empresses and queens as well. Although I love queen Elizabeth and affectionate call her queen bex, I just know she has slept with her guard or someone else because she had to get married to her cousin. Because that’s how most royalty works. Either you’re sleeping with your family members or you’re sleeping with a stranger shipped in from another country. So this empress should have absolutely no problem with the emperor sleeping around or with him having other kids. It should be expected as it is also expected that she will try to kill off the other kids and their mothers. It’s all expected. What she did wrong wasn’t poisoning the prince or killing his mother, she turned her back on the empire and stabbed her emperor in the back (because remember than an empress may be an imperial to others but she is a citizen to the emperor!) and committed treason. For that crime, her and her entire lineage has to die. That unfortunately includes any and all children. Just completely wipe them out. It’s justified for her to be angry but that’s what she signed up for and it’s what she fought to keep. He ignored her killing off any children he had (which is also punishable by death) and he also ignored all of her mistakes BECAUSE her maternal family was an ally. The second she and they turn on him, he’s free to do what he wants. They have a political marriage. All of this is political not emotional. She’s bringing emotions into it when it was her own fault her son failed to succeed the throne. She didn’t teach her son well enough to stand on his own. She deserves everything that’s coming to her unfortunately. I don’t feel bad for when the emperor dies but she definitely needs to die.
I live in a country with a monarch. We may talk shit about him cause he’s doing piss all but no one would even dare to try to kill the man or wage war on him. He’s a war hero for starters and very highly ranked and secondly, although you won’t get killed for it officially, you probably will find yourself dead in prison very soon after. We wouldn’t dare think of killing him off. It’s actually unfathomable. You’d probably have to view yourself as above the king in order to do something like that.
I get how you view Monarchy, it's interesting to hear how subjects view the monarchy systems, my country isn't with one, so it's a very fresh perspective. But well... what I'm pointing out on this one isn't the monarchy and all it's bitterness or whatever.
No matter how royal/imperial they may all be, they're still humans, what I meant is that the empress wouldn't have any shred of affection for the Emperor as a person, simply because of what he's done. Yes, let say it's a royal privilege to be a scumbag that sleeps around, scattering his seeds of whatever, the Empress/Queen will be pressured to overlook all that and yet that doesn't mean their wives are emotionless machines. I'm not siding with the empress, but if i don't really think the Emperor has the right to feel surprise that someone is tried to kill him. Especially, that someone being the Empress. He should have been on guard considering there's no positive feelings in their marriage, at the end of the day, the Empress is evil and the Emperor is a fool. Both of them deserved it.
Is it really surprising that she poisoned him? He cheated on his wife, brought in his illegitimate child, and then he proceeded to use his illegitimate son to check in the influence of his wife and her son, so he could keep his power as Emperor. I ain't siding with the empress, but after all that, I'm not surprise that she wanted him dead without any feeling guilty.
