He is a god but not actually a monkey. He is from a family of Forest dwellers who look ape-like his father but his mother was an Apsara. Half man half Ape. Idk if he got any connection to an asura?

From what I found after googled them, so Hanuman is a divine monkey who accompanied Rama and Asura is a race of supernatural beings also considered as demon in the epic Ramayana and Hanuman and Asura constantly in war
It was probably inspired more by Buddhism than Hinduism. But I wish to see more Indian motifs in Manga lol
I don't know why people think Asura, Yama, Apsaras are Buddhism when they originally from Hinduism
Because Buddhism is rooted from India and they are also featured in Buddhism actually, if you read or watch the Journey to the West these three are prominent figures throughout the journeys
Buddhism and Hinduism are both dharmic religions originated from India. Of course, they gonna share commonality.
Yeah but the fact that they think those terms are solely Buddhist is not healthy is what I was meaning.. anyways this is just a fantasy for outsiders to incorporate some south Asian aesthetics but I really like Chise's previous work Monster which also had a South Asian King/a Indian
To me it looks inspired by sherpas and Nepal. Nepal already has a living god similar to this. Her feet cannot touch the floor and she can only the attended to by her attendants. People come to her to be healed and receive blessings. But the outfits and the place seem to be up in the mountains so either sherpas or Tibetan. Even the outfits look more Tibetan.

Sherpas are considered a seperate group of people to tibetans or nepalis tho they are from Tibetan decent. That was a long ass time ago tho so they have a separate cultural identify. They are nomadic and sometimes polygamous. Most are Buddhist tho I guess not every Sherpa needs to be Buddhist. They live across the mountain ranges so they are not specifically from any region like “Tibet” or “Nepal” tho I think most live in Nepal now.
Wow good to know about these people. Beautiful culture everywhere around the world some are unknown to common man and some buried forever and many tainted by pessimistic people.
