from what i remember in japan because same sex marriage haven't legalized yet, usually homosexuals couple 'adopt' their partner so they could share the same last name and be in one family certificate! basically the same as common marriage but you get the idea
gay marriage is illegal in korea, so gay men and women will adopt one another meaning they get access to things like the right to visit one another in a hospital or attend a funeral of one another. its basically marriage but most importantly it gives legal grounds to an otherwise """""illegal"""""""" situation
