I understand that it's some alternative universe (not talking about omegaverse) where adult person follows through on that idiotic promise without confirming it still being valid and not foreseeing what a bad idea it is

Even withing this interesting universe, no one would ever think that it was the motivation behind smn's actions
Otherwise what even the issues with MC? Did he like threw few mean verbal punches at ML? Don't remember and don't really care
If you take in account all his circumstances and that he was actually straightforward about all his intentions with ML and others, I dunno what ever is the issue?
