if you can't handle the darker side of FICTION why are you reading it in the first place? the world is full of lighthearted fairy tales and wholesome stories so there are plenty of alternatives if that's what you enjoy... some ppl enjoy this type of stuff.
i honestly don't understand why ppl get so angry over fictional stuff if a character is s-assaulted then that's part of the story. if a character is murdered, that's also part of the story. these things aren't being presented as good they're simply elements of the narrative??? and that's making the story hella good. dark fiction explores difficult or disturbing and sometimes horrific subjects because that's the kind of story it's trying to tell??
these kinds of crimes also exist in real life and fiction has always reflected both the good and THE BAD parts of humanity.. if those themes aren't for you, why keep reading? just to complain? the simplest solution is to stop reading and pick up something that better matches your preferences. problem solved.
if you only want sweet and comforting stories there are countless books that offer exactly that. the same logic applies to movies. people don't watch a horror film expecting sunshine and happy endings right. if a horror movie includes torture, murder, or other disturbing content, those elements are there because they serve the story. you don't have to like that kind of fiction, but not every story is meant for every audience. STOP COMPLAINING OVER NOTHING
