I've never related to a character more than I have to Amou. I met my god at 7yo. The attachment and attention, yet lack of burden, that Amou presented to Jose are so accurate not only to the ace community but to alexithymic individuals as well. His struggle to fully grasp the emotions he's feeling along with the lack of emotion he conveys in general is something that was represented in a way that makes it very clear why so many people find others who have these rare identities difficult to deal with, which didn't really settle in with me until now. I also started drawing due to my love. So understanding why he was so protective of his room completely resonated with me. To have feelings that you aren't fully able to identify be vulnerable to someone you near and about worship is petrifying. Both mentally and physically. For me, his room represents my genuine feelings: even if Jose is well aware of them, not being able to choose to deny what they see with their eyes is what prevents me from saying much more. As someone who identifies among the ace community and also is alexithymic, to have such specific representation is indescribable. And to see amou get that happy ending with Jose, gives me hope that even with as many years of friendship as I have had when it comes to my Jose, it is not impossible to have that love, even if it's hard to even explain what exactly love means to you.
