Lol I think MC is completely justified in worrying about his friend, especially because the BDSM play is getting in the way of his cherished career and has been clearly affecting his mood. I don’t see him acting like “BDSM police” at all, in case you were referring to MC.
While worrying about a friend is normal, his friend is also a grown man. I called him the BDSM police because he said why BDSM has to be violent or rapey. And don’t come at me saying he was talking about actual rape or violence cause he wasn’t. He was talking about them in BDSM context.
Some people like it rough. Consensual rape play is a thing too. Some people enjoy pain and some enjoy inflicting it. That doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with them.
