Trait haver x beta trope will always confuse me because at that point why not just write a regular bl?

bc it’s about being together despite a world where the conditions are not welcoming to you??? when it’s taken for granted that alphas should be with omegas and betas with betas defying it is the point? like non soulmate aus. some series actually explore this really well like the world building is excellent (exclusive no love zone for example). also the struggles of inherent trait havers still exist? and also the sadness accompanying knowing what you give up (biological children for example) that parallels what the queer community struggles going through??? it’s a great trope to borrow from and explore but if it’s not ur cup of tea there are so many typical alpha x omega out there for you to read

Because it’s subversive. Alphas r usually the top.

I love that you’re so passionate about this but none of this really makes me get the appeal bc almost all of what you just said can be found in any story that takes place in the “real world”/a world with homophobia and no mpreg. Plus these stories often require bending some of the science/biology of omegaverse to make these trait haver x beta pairing possible which actually undermines the world building in my opinion. My comment wasn’t a defense of traditional omegaverse pairings (i don’t really like omegaverse), but more a generalist comment on why i find this specific omegaverse trope to be confusing/uniquely unsatisfactory.

See I would agree with you on that if not for most beta x alpha stories having an alpha top. In my experience, omega x omega or even true (no alpha’s can impregnate other alphas gimmick) alpha x alpha stories tend to be more subversive than the average beta x trait haver story.

im only passionate bc the only reason i got into omegaverse was through non traditional a/b/o dynamics (on ao3) before i even began to remotely like omegaverse at all (even then i like atypical omegas???) personally bc of how much i’ve actually read (before digging through omegaverse bl manhwas) i know what clicks for me and what doesn’t i guess it’s just a taste difference thing tho.

like personally i hate the bitching of betas (fine with alphas tho lol) bc how does it make it any different from a traditional a/b/o or how doesn’t it enforce the idea that betas aren’t worth loving and need a trait to be loved but again it’s fiction and i’m probably reading too deeply into it

thinking through the titles i like with beta tops and them having to find ways to deal with their alpha partner’s rut while knowing they are wholly inadequate and will never understand the minute changes in scent/pheromones… idk man to me omegaverse is like an added spice u don’t get ruts/heats and other issues in a “real world” setting
one of my favorite alpha x alpha is literally bearing through the pheromone storm out of sheer love for the other person and wanting to be with them. (i usually skip beta bottoms so i really can’t comment on that one) i wish i could properly put into words how much i love beta tops and why

ajdkdjdksjs sorry for taking up so much of your time and really appreciate ur lengthy response
