This started out so freaking cute and lovely like the main couple is so stinking cute and the friendships in the first season were portrayed so well and wholesome! Everyone was so supportive and it was done in a clever but cute way, so charming. Jaewon and Maehwa are both honest and communicate well!
So Idk what happened with the second season but I legit almost want to drop it cuz of the second couple. The more I read, the more insufferable Yeonan is to me. He is such a self centered spoiled character with zero redeeming qualities. Everything he does is for himself. Even times when the author has him contemplate about “what’s best for Dalguk,” it’s usually still something that benefits himself in the end. And not only that, but he lashes out at Dalguk and then blames problems on him, and then runs to his brother for comfort? Like wtf? And then on top of that, uses his home situation to manipulate Dalguk when things get rocky for him. Like. This dude sucks so bad. The worst part is that his behavior is glazed over so easily like he’s not out here straight up manipulating his so called “partner”- Dalguk in his desperation to not “scare” Yeonan, just lets him get away with any and everything. Idk if it’s because I also didn’t grow up in some loving family home, but I have no tolerance for people who use that as an excuse to become an avoidant manipulative asshole.
I’m so confused because this series gave me some serious whiplash like hahaha why is the first couple so cute and the second couple is like. wtf am I reading rn??? like author are you bored and just wanted to create a toxic character?? If that’s the case I feel like the first and second couples should have been a separate series all together, not the same series. Because you can tell Yeonan is toxic af, but the author still tries to keep the overall tone lighthearted, comedic, and age friendly, which I don’t think suits the second couple at all.
For example, you can tell author is trying to create a situationship between Yeonan and Dalguk’s brother, but can’t because of the “age friendly” tag.
Maehwa and Jaewon are the stars of the show for sure in this one.
