It gets very frustrating really. The uke becomes so avoidant to the point he lowkey run away twice!! Like later on we will get the full story from yeon oh pov.
the man tracks him down, which confuses the hell out of gihyeon since he was the one who wanted to break things off anyway. the man is persistent, and even moves in next door to try and get gihyeon to speak to him again. he wants to take back the breakup, but still hasn't come to terms with his feelings for him. he just wants to have gihyeon back in his life. despite finding out gihyeon is now an pregnant omega and believing the baby daddy is someone else, a last ditch attempt on gihyeon's behalf to chase him off, yeon-oh claims he will take responsibility.
We get yeon-oh's pov , and it's during one of those povs we find out why he's so repulsed by betas. korean authors have ingrained in me the idea that there's always going to be something particularly unhinged about chaebol families, and he is no exception. both his mom and dad have had affairs with beta lovers, with his dad being by far the worst offender. when he was high out of his mind, he shackled a ten year old yeon-oh to a chair and forced him to watch his dad fuck a beta, as tears streamed down his face.
why? what for? none of that is really explained except for the fact that he is now paying the price by getting into an accident that rendered him a vegetable. so all of that just seemed to me like it was there for shock value. anyways. that swears yeon-oh off for betas because he never wants to be like his degenerate father. and yet somehow, he's been having wet dreams of gihyeon almost every single day while they were in school together, and he copes by dating omega girls. because obviously.
back to the present, it takes gihyeon running away a second time (going off the grid this time by throwing away his phone and intentionally setting a false trail) to find that he's not shaking yeon-oh off, as he just miraculously shows up somehow at gihyeon's doorstep. man, all of that stalking and he still couldn't figure out that he's the baby daddy?
gihyeon, at the end of his wits, decides on a final ultimatum -- yeon-oh needs to sleep with him or fuck off forever. it's an idea that is entirely self destructive and both of them realize it. to gihyeon's shocking dismay, yeon-oh steps up to it. rather enthusiastically, in fact. at this point yeon-oh isn't concerned with maintaining boundaries anymore; he finally realizes he loves him and shows it in a very extended lovemaking session that had gihyeon begging to tap out multiple times. gihyeon struggles with accepting that this is actually happening and yeon-oh is fully sober doing it, so instead, he convinces himself that yeon-oh is so far gone on maintaining his friendship with gihyeon that he's willing to do such despicable things, so gihyeon has no choice but to finally cave and be his friend again.
what?
come again?
the extent he's committed to misunderstanding astounded me. would any sane person ever come to such a ludicrous conclusion? or is the delusion really that all-consuming? either way, it was too late to get off the ride now.
along the way, gihyeon realizes that yeon-oh had somehow found out that the baby was his, especially after the last disastrous attempt to chase him off ended in dismal failure (gihyeon saying he's thinking of making up with the baby's father, resulting in yeon-oh being weirdly ecstatic) and yeon-oh was just playing dumb with him.
anyways, it takes gihyeon meeting up with yeon-oh's mom to finally realize the reason why yeon-oh despises betas. and while it annoyed me that this was all it took for him to snap tf out of it all those years of constant misunderstandings, i was beyond exhausted with all the drama.
these two are insanely messy i just can't help but laugh. and yet they're addicting to read, like one of those trashy telenovelas that get you hooked. i wish i could say i was hate-reading at this point, but in a way i was genuinely enjoying it. the misunderstandings were so frequent and got progressively more and more stupid, but i think i started enjoying it when i stopped taking it so seriously.
when they're finally together, all is well. all secrets are aired out, they get married, gihyeon brings the baby to term, yeon-oh's mom essentially adopts him as her own son, and even yeon-oh's grandpa, the decrepit patriach who spends most of his time popping blood vessels over his son's dumb antics, adores gihyeon and dotes to hell and back over his grandchild. only when gihyeon's an omega, right?
much of the misunderstandings felt entirely preventable to me. a lot of my frustration may have stemmed from the fact that i've read far too many kbl with similar hammy tropes. i can see people getting turned off by the fact gihyeon transitions to an omega. but man if the ride wasn't fun as hell.
Holly fuck just reading the synopsis makes me irrationally angry. I'm on chapter 14 right now and both of them are pissing me off, So Giheyon more because he's being a spineless doormat. Like how can you just swallow your "lover" telling you they're repulsed by the idea of intimacy with you but they'll arrange for someone you could fuck? But only you fucking them, not them fucking because that would be "cheating"... Like... Uuugh....
Anyway, I'm not happy to hear this will continue on and on, but I'll keep on reading, because I want to see this trainwreck until the end...
Also, I think this story would be much better if Giheyon stayed as a beta...

Hey so can someone spoil for me what happens later since this is based off of a novel
