Am I the only one who notices just how manipulative Chul-jin can be? I mean obviously he is, but like, take in all the things he said to Minwoo when they were younger, and what he brings up to him now. He constantly uses Minwoo's heartbreaks and their past to keep him on a leash almost. And this is not to say that Chul-jin doesn't love him ― I'm sure he does, but it's such a destructive, harmful kind of love. And honestly because Minwoo likes him so much, he runs back to him, even while being self aware of how toxic their relationship is. That's why to me the sex scene seemed almost like a "get back" from Minwoo, but even while reading it, I was like..."can't we just fight about this?" I would've preferred punches to whatever that entire scene was. And even towards the end, the comments Chul-jin would make, "Oh we belong together, I knew you never changed, I'm the only one who gets you," insinuating that Chul-jin knows, even though Minwoo knows that what they have isn't good, he'll always come back to it. (And the voice recording, hello?)
And so this is what pisses me the most about their relationship. They love each other, genuinely. Because of their past and their sentiments towards one another, but as a couple, as anything they could even try to build as a relationship, it's always gonna be Chul-jin with the upper hand. At least that's how I see it. When was the last time this guy said something, and we could 100% believe him? Every scene with this dude makes my head hurt with how much an actor he is. He's so playfully coy, it's beautiful and hurtful to see.
It's that I would've looooooved to see Chul-jin, even if he didn't entirely mean it, groveling, begging to do whatever he can to make it up to Minwoo. And he was almost there! With the "oh I'll wait however long.." but that didn't really go nowhere.
Anyway...if you made it this far, here's a heart. ♡
