The implication is definitely that he was raped. When Tennessee touches him back there in their first sex scene, Amber stiffens and fully flashes back in a PTSD response. No spoilers for later on, but there are a few clues there too. They don’t show anything (which I’m grateful for). But it’s pretty clear.
