when i started reading this i lowkey thought there was gonna be some type of colonizer saviour complex messaging but surprisingly there wasn’t. i really liked the convo between aqnam and ryo where he basically tells ryo that the lutah ppl aren’t saints and that they also feel things like selfishness and resentment. it was important that ryo stopped putting lutah on a pedestal when in fact they are humans too and feel the same negative thoughts that ryo does. i find in most media that have similar plots, this messaging gets lost and as a result the portrayal of foreigners and untouched tribes becomes overly romantised and slightly problematic . but yeah i’m pleasantly surprised
