They write to actually say something, not to just write male romance, but about gender/social norms. It’s a queer love story. This is as real as it gets, no other BL author’s touch on homosexuality or queerness quite as deeply as this.
My heart is filled with the threads of transgenderism, motherhood, and intersexuality weaving together into this diverting piece which questions the social constructs of gender and sexuality. It puts it up for debate what it really means to be a man or a woman. If it only stops there.
Fuck, rereading it the foreshadowing was set down so beautifully. He wasn’t afraid of homosexuality but the sexual trauma caused by the mechanics of his body. Afraid of men not because he was a man but because he has a WOMB.
