Why do some readers ask if a story has romance or not? And when they find out it does, they're like, "Okay, pass." No hate or anything. ’m just genuinely curious. Aside from "Not cup of my tea", What’s your other reason?
For me, it's how the female characters or love interests are usually depicted as idiots or powerless ditzes. Also, some authors just don't know how to write romance. They genuinely suck ass, so there's that.
Honestly I feel like sometimes romance can completely sap all of the personality out of the woman as soon as she catches feelings(eg reporting for duty duchess) and also I just hate overly possesive men or the "prove myself to the in-laws" trope!
