The End of an Era
When we first started Chrysanthemum Garden nearly seven years ago, we did so because there were so few good danmei sites out there. We wanted to provide a place that allowed translators to post novels and be compensated fairly, while providing readers with an easy-to-navigate website with unobtrusive ads. And for the past six years, we have managed to accomplish our goals.
Unfortunately, we recently lost access to the advertisement platform weβd been using that allowed all of this to happen. We have tried many alternatives, but even the second best options have ended up providing a tiny fraction of what we had been earning. Not only do we no longer earn enough to provide a revenue split with translators and authors; we can no longer even cover the cost of hosting the website.
Without a way to support the website and our translators, we have had to make the painful decision to close down the website. To give translators and authors the opportunity to transfer their novel from CG, and to allow readers an opportunity to finish stories they have started, we will keep the website running until July 31. Our Discord servers will close at the end of July. Please note that, to reduce further server costs, access to novels is only available to registered members of our site.
Finally, thank you to all the translators, authors and readers that helped make Chrysanthemum Garden great for over half a decade. We deeply appreciate you for giving us a place in your life, even if it was for a shorter time than we had hoped.
