He lies to Gyeom but I can't blame him. How could anyone possible just stand there and watch their loved ones end their lives? Especially after the mermaid arc, Gyeom also has feelings for Taehee.
"I have no intention to befriend someone who's chosen death" Taehee is saying it like he's not the one who's going to cry, beg Jaegyeom not to die. Trust me in novel he's most pathetically, miserably, desparately in love with Jaegyeom. He's the real definition of yearner. He's such a downbad loser in love. He's always get both physically and mentally hurt by Jaegyeom(he has his reasons for hurting him) but he won't lay a finger on him no matter how badly he got injured. No matter how hurt he got he would still crawl back to him. Taehee loves him like breathing. There's this line in the novel where Taehee said "I love you so much that I want to die" you can already guess how much he is in love. This novel is painfully beautiful I love it to the core of my heart everyone should read this novel
