As someone who also competed for a scholarship but with no backing, I have seen a lot of new scholars get the scholarships even if they just "barely passed" the minimum requirement only because they had someone backing them up. It is very frustrating and very unfair. But such is the realities in competitions, even ones that are supposedly designed to help the less fortunate ones.
But hes smart and constantly scored high since the start and everyone knows that. Would be kinda unbelievable irl but mb this will spur some drama and get that asshole dude from a few chapters ago a well deserved whooping
