Wearing a provocative dress and dancing with another man isn't the girl boss power move you think it is. Her actions resulted in her being sexually assaulted and sequestered in a room by Riftan for an entire week. That's just... how the hell was that a good thing, lol? They "reconcile" in the end, but at what cost? Of Maxi’s sexual and emotional autonomy? The reconciliation happened on RIFTAN'S terms, not Maxi's. She never wanted him to jump her like a stupid, wild beast. She wanted that asshole to talk to her after keeping her at arm's length for basically the entire first half of Book 2. Their relationship is a disaster, and anyone who believes otherwise just doesn't know what healthy progression in a toxic relationship looks like. My god.

I recommend doing so if you're fed up with the lack of healthy development. The next arc after this one will only make the dynamic worse than it already was.
